A Wisbech man has been handed a driving ban after he was found to be driving while more than double the drink drive limit.

Blagoy Dimitrov, 46, was stopped by police in Clarkson Avenue, Wisbech, on August 30, after members of the public called to report a Vauxhall Corsa nearly colliding with several oncoming vehicles.

He was charged with drink driving after he blew 85 in custody – the limit being 35 – driving without insurance and driving without a licence as he was found to be a provisional licence holder.

Dimitrov, of Verdun Road, Wisbech, admitted the offences at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday October 7 and was given a 22-month driving ban and told to pay a £300 fine.

PC Liam Ward, who investigated, said: “Dimitrov was seen by officers and members of the public struggling to drive in a straight line and even colliding with a road sign.

“I would like to thank those who called us about their concerns which allowed us to stop Dimitrov before he could cause any harm to himself or others.”
