A 69-year-old man has denied the 2013 murder of Una Crown, a retired postmistress from Wisbech.

David Newton appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday, May 23.

He pleaded not guilty to the murder of Una Crown, and a trial is due to commence on January 13, 2025.

Una Crown was found in her Wisbech home in Magazine Lane on January 13, 2013 - 12 years, to the day, that David Newton is due to face trial for her murder.

She was discovered in a pool of blood with her clothing burnt.

Initially, her death was treated as an accident. A murder investigation was then launched days later.

A post-mortem examination showed that the 86-year-old died of stab wounds to her neck and chest.
