Members of a Fenland sports club have raised almost £6,000 for a charity that's very close to their heart.
In 2022, Gedney Hill Golf Club lost two members to pancreatic cancer and, when Chris Bennett became lady captain in April 2023, she decided to nominate Pancreatic Cancer UK as the club's charity for the year.
She said: "Everyone at the club got on board: club captain Rob Bye and seniors’ captain Steve Steels donated the monies made on their captains’ days.
"Kevin King organised a skydive with his work colleagues from Earls Scaffolding Ltd and other fundraising events were held at the club throughout the year.
"In total we raised £5,850 for the charity, which was way beyond my expectations."
